One of the best features of many new cars is the “Push Button Start”. So easy it takes almost no effort. If only starting a fitness program could be that simple.

The most important thing about a fitness program is getting started. That's it! You just have to get up and do something. It doesn't have to be special or even very specific, it just has to be something. The fact that you want to start a fitness program is the first step. But nothing gets done if you don't take the first step. Make a start. Take a step forward toward this seemingly distant goal in your mind. That's where the real effort, the real hard decision is made. Do you really want this more than you want to be comfortable? More than you want to relax? More than you want to find something that will distract you from the goal of changing how you look, or how you feel, improving your health? That is the decision you have to make. The push you need to get yourself started.

Try this instead of making excuses, waiting for the right time and the right day. It doesn't have to be the first of the month or on Monday. Try as soon as you're done reading this! The next time you think about it, get up and go for a walk. Take a few steps toward your fitness journey; toward building a better you. It doesn't take an expensive gym membership, some brand new fitness plan, or fancy fitness trend, it just takes YOU taking a few steps, moving more than you're sitting. That's the whole goal! By design, that is the only thing you need. Simply move more than you’re still. Push your body to make these simple changes. The first step is to get started. On day one, do 30 minutes of walking. I know it just sounds too simple, too ridiculously easy to be true, but take a 30-minute walk. Whether it's outside on a treadmill, somewhere on a track, in a park, anywhere you can find the space. Continuous movement at your own pace for 30 minutes. Push yourself to start.
